Rebecca Clarke

Rebecca has over 25 years’ experience in the dance industry. Her journey began in the UK where she trained full time at Elmhurst Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School – one of the world’s most respected classical ballet institutions. Today she combines her knowledge of dance training and Pilates with professional industry experience to bring students a holistic and in-depth approach to their learning.

As a dancer, Rebecca enjoyed many facets of the industry – in cabaret at the world famous Lido de Paris and Casino du Monte Carlo, on cruise ships for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Crystal Cruises, in film and television productions, Royal Variety shows, other stage shows throughout the UK and even had the privilege of dancing for Disney.

She made her West End Musical Theatre debut as part of the original London West End cast of Saturday Night Fever, but her career was unfortunately cut short due to a serious injury.

Pilates formed the basis of her injury rehabilitation and seemed a natural career pathway from the world of dance. Mentored by highly respected Pilates instructors Alan Herdman and Lesley Ackland, Rebecca gained her Teacher Training Certificate with Alan Herdman Pilates in 2004, teaching in studios across London and later Brisbane.

A registered teacher of Progressing Ballet Technique and all levels of the Ballet Conservatoire training program from Pre-Primary through to Senior Level. Akin to her own training, she considers it a privilege to deliver this training program and syllabus and enjoys the growth in the students that this Vaganova based program provides.

The creative team of the Australian tour of Billy Elliot the Musical approached Rebecca to mentor a young Billy hopeful. She enjoyed growing his foundations of classical ballet and deepening his knowledge of technique and artistry. After his successful audition, she continued to mentor the young artist in preparation for his starring role in the show.

A highly motivated individual, Rebecca is continually inspired by her students and staff to provide more opportunities to learn, show respect and care for each other, raise the bar every day and never give up!
